money management

making it easier for young people to get essential items when they are isolating or in lockdown

money management might be a little different for some of our young people.

what's changed?

When young people are isolating or in lockdown, MSD will not enforce the obligation that young people must be on full Money Management within 20 working days. However, young people must have redirections in place to pay for:

  • the young person's accommodation and service costs, for example rent, board, power, phone
  • the young person's lawful debts or other liabilities, for example Child Support payments, Work and Income debts.

lost payment card

If a young person doesn’t have a payment card, or has lost their payment card, MSD can remove the young person from the payment card portion of Money Management and keep redirections in place.

When the young person has completed isolation or lockdown, we must put the young person on, or back on, full Money Management.
